A Letter from a Blue Bird

December 5

Dear Will,
I've only read about them in books and seen them in my dreams, but I know I could be a blue bird. I have a fire blazing in my soul that gives me strength and happiness. I set my shoulders back and my chin is always up. My pa calls me joy. I inhale fresh air all the time, something I couldn't do back behind the wall. I remember being blindfolded and inhaling. I couldn't see the prison around me, but I imagine the air a thick grey, stubstance that could hardly be called air. When I inhale, my fire is fed, instead of extinguished. I read and write, sing and dance. I experience what the books call "freedom". Our society is all experiencing the same thing -- an awakening from death. Our bodies have become strengthened and our minds clear.
I imagine a blue bird being like this -- happy.
